Privacy Policy
Wireless has no account, advertising, analytics or tracking. Your favourites, listening choices and settings stay on your device. To play radio, Wireless makes ordinary network requests to the Wireless station directory and directly to broadcasters and their streaming providers; those services can receive technical request information such as your IP address. Wireless does not send what you listen to to Kevin Perry Creative.
Who this policy covers
This policy covers the Wireless app for iPhone, iPad and compatible Apple-silicon Macs, published by Kevin Perry Creative (Kevin Perry, Australia), and the Wireless station directory service the app uses. It explains what the app stores, what it sends over the network and what choices you have.
What Wireless stores on your device
| Data | Where | Leaves device? |
|---|---|---|
| Favourite stations and their order | App preferences on your device | Never |
| Last selected station | App preferences on your device | Never |
| TV Sync delay, Vocal Boost level and stream choice for each station | App preferences on your device | Never |
| Settings such as Auto Resume and Keep Screen Awake | App preferences on your device | Never |
| Sleep Schedule active hours and check-in interval | App preferences on your device | Never |
| Recently played stations (shown in CarPlay) | App preferences on your device | Never |
| Copy of the station directory | Local file (Application Support) | Never — downloaded from the directory, not uploaded |
| Station and network artwork | System network cache | Never |
| Stream Diagnostics log (optional, off by default) | Local file (Application Support) | Only if you choose to export and share it |
Favourites are not synchronised through iCloud or any other service. Deleting Wireless removes all of this data from the device.
If you turn on Stream Diagnostics, the log records playback and connection events, stream addresses, and the song, programme and advertising metadata the station sends, so problems can be investigated. Exports remove authentication values such as tokens, keys and signatures from stream addresses and exclude device names. The file is shared only when you choose to share it; review it before sending.
Network access
Wireless connects to the internet only to provide radio:
- The Wireless station directory — the app downloads the published list of stations, streams and network artwork from a directory service operated by Kevin Perry Creative on Cloudflare. These requests contain no favourites, listening history or personal information.
- Broadcaster streams — when you play a station, Wireless connects directly to that station's published audio stream, which is hosted by the broadcaster or its streaming provider. Wireless does not relay, host or record station audio.
- Artwork, song and programme information — Wireless may request station logos, programme guides and now-playing song information from the broadcaster or its data providers (for example the ABC, SEN or Triton Digital) for the station you are playing.
Like any website or online service, the directory, broadcasters and their providers can receive technical information that comes with every internet request, such as your IP address, the time of the request and basic app or device details. Broadcasters may also apply their own regional restrictions, audience measurement or advertising within their streams; that is governed by each broadcaster's own privacy policy. Kevin Perry Creative does not receive information about which stations you play.
Cloudflare processes requests to the directory service to deliver and protect it, and may keep short-lived operational logs. Kevin Perry Creative uses these only to keep the service running and does not combine them with any other information to identify you.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
Wireless contains no advertising, behavioural analytics or third-party crash-reporting SDK, and it does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. There is no Wireless account or sign-in.
TestFlight, AirPlay and system controls
TestFlight: Wireless is distributed as a beta through Apple's TestFlight. Apple handles enrolment, beta distribution, crash reports and any feedback you choose to send, under Apple's privacy policy. Apple shares crash reports and beta feedback you submit with the developer, which may include device model, operating-system version and your email address if you include it. Opening the invitation link does not give Wireless your Apple Account details.
Lock Screen, AirPlay and connected vehicles: Wireless shares the current station, artwork and song information with iOS so they appear on the Lock Screen, in Control Centre and on AirPlay or vehicle displays. This is handled on your device by Apple's system frameworks.
CarPlay: Wireless presents the player, Favourites, recently played stations and Discover from the data already on your iPhone. This does not create an account or send a CarPlay activity record to Kevin Perry Creative. Apple provides the CarPlay system environment under Apple's privacy terms.
Sharing the beta: the Share TestFlight link setting opens the system share sheet with the public invitation link. Wireless does not see who you share it with.
Notifications
If you allow notifications when you turn on Sleep Schedule, Wireless schedules a local "still listening?" check-in on your device so it can appear on the Lock Screen. These notifications are created on the device; no notification content passes through any Kevin Perry Creative server, and Wireless sends no marketing or remote push notifications. Sleep Schedule still works with notifications turned off.
Children
Wireless does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app has no accounts, forms or way to submit personal information.
Open-source components
Wireless's source code is public on GitHub, so its data handling can be inspected. Vocal Boost is adapted from the signal-processing architecture in Pocket Casts for iOS (Automattic, Inc.) under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. It processes audio entirely on your device and transmits no data.
Optional website analytics
This website, kevmarl.com, offers optional Google Analytics measurement to help Kevin Perry Creative understand aggregate page visits. It is separate from the Wireless app, which contains no analytics code.
Google Analytics is off by default. Google code is not requested and analytics cookies are not created unless you select Allow analytics. Advertising storage, advertising personalisation and Google advertising signals remain disabled. You can withdraw consent at any time with the Analytics choices button shown on every page. Google handles accepted analytics data under Google's Privacy Policy.
Your choices
- Remove favourites or change settings at any time in the app.
- Leave Stream Diagnostics off, or clear its log from the Stream Diagnostics page.
- Delete Wireless to remove everything it stored on your device.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, for example when a new feature changes what Wireless stores or sends, the updated version will be posted at this address with a revised date.
